Herman Samuels

Mr. Herman Jerome Samuels, 94, of Danbury, CT, passed away on November 6, 2024. Herman, affectionately known as “Jerry”, was born on September 21, 1930, in Georgetown, British Guiana (Guyana 1966). Jerry’s life was a testament to courage, hard work, and a relentless spirit of independence.

At a young age, Jerry journeyed to America alone, seeking opportunity and a brighter future. With a strong determination, he began his career as an electrician, mastering his craft with skill and precision.  His entrepreneurial drive led him to become a successful businessman, eventually owning car washes in New York and Connecticut. His work ethic and generosity were admired by all who knew him.

A man of many talents, Jerry loved the great outdoors, hunting and working with his hands. He was known as a "man’s man," who embraced life’s adventures with gusto. Whether throwing lively parties, Caribbean island hopping, or sharing stories over a drink with friends and family, Jerry was often the life of the party.

Jerry’s legacy of resilience and self-sufficiency lives on through his children - Gail Marie Samuels-Smith (Carl) and the late Steven Jerome Samuels (Jackie) from his first marriage to the late Elinor Samuels and Timothy Samuels, Adam Samuels and Amel Samuels from his second marriage to the late Lynn Samuels.  Jerry also leaves behind six grandchildren: Shatina, Lisa, Steven Jr., Lexi, Lauren, Kristen and great-granddaughters, Mia and Jade.  

Friends, loved ones, and those who knew him are encouraged to share their memories and condolences, celebrating the life of Herman J. Samuels.
