Vincent Jones

Vincent (Vince) R. Jones, 76, of Norwalk, CT passed away on February 22, 2024 at Danbury Hospital.  Born in Norwalk, he was the son of the late Vincent F. and Elizabeth (Keller) Jones. 

Vince’s childhood home was located on the property of what had been his maternal grandparents’ dairy farm (formerly located on the site of Brien McMahon High School on Highland Avenue in Norwalk) and is where he attended Norwalk Schools and developed a deep, lifelong affection for nature.  Vince especially loved horses.  He began riding at the New Canaan Mounted Troop at age 8 and competed in the junior class. 

Vince graduated from Brien McMahon High School before heading off to college at the University of Charleston in West Virginia.  After college he spent most of the next decade or so living in Colorado and working in various sectors before returning to Norwalk and rediscovering competitive horseback riding.  From there, Vince pursued his love for teaching which led to a long, successful career as a beloved riding instructor.

Vince was a personable, caring and thoughtful person who made friends easily and cherished those closest to him.   

Vince is survived by his extended family and a treasure trove of friends that were like family. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent F. and Elizabeth (Keller) Jones, his sister, Susan Jones Verrastro and brother-in-law, Nicholas M. Verrastro.

Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to New Canaan Mounted Troop, New Canaan, CT; The Marvin (Under One Roof), Norwalk, CT or that you simply perform a random act of kindness in memory of Vince.
